Update: July 19, 2008: Well, the two boys have been fixed, have their distemper shot, and rabies shot. I would still like to see them go to a good home together. Please help. I'm still asking for $20 each to help defray the cost of getting them fixed.
Somehow, someway, I acquired these two kittens. Well, actually, there were 4 but the two females have found a home. They were really tiny when they appeared in my yard one morning. None of the feral cats that I feed would have anything to do with them. I suspect a neighbor must have left them in my yard. Their eyes were still blue they were so young. These two could barely eat solid food and the 2 females that I found homes for weren't even weaned and I had to bottle feed them! At least they were left at my place and not tossed in the trash or left in the woods! I've kept them inside so that they wouldn't turn wild like the ferals. Both are male and I believe that they are about 4 months old now. I'd like to see them go to the same home as they are very close and affectionate with each other. I think they'd be lost without each other. I want to know that they are going to a good home where they will be loved, kept inside, and well cared for. Here are a couple of pics.......

The dark one is Jimmy-Jammers - JJ for short and the gray/white one is Socks. Socks purrs every single time that you pick him up. JJ is a little skiddish when you move too fast or walk toward him but if you sit still, he will get on your lap and go to sleep. He might need for you to be patient with him until he adjusts. They are litter trained and eat hard food although they do appreciate the occasional canned food treat or dish of warm milk.
Help me find a home for them. Rescue the Animals and Humane Society never have room with I call them. |
Cat Prayer
Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray this cushy life to keep.
I pray for toys that look like mice,
And sofa cushions, soft and nice.
I pray for gourmet kitty snacks,
And someone nice to scratch my back,
For windowsills all warm and bright,
For shadows to explore at night.
I pray I'll always stay real cool
And keep the secret feline rule
To NEVER tell a human that
The world is really ruled by CATS!

Well, stupid people never cease to amaze me. About a month ago (mid July), my daughter called me to come by and when I got there, she had a box and pleaded with me to not be mad. Turns out that she had a baby kitty in the box. Now this little one was just barely to the age where they start to eat solid food and some idiot decided that he didn't want it. Instead of taking the kitten to the Humane Society or Rescue the Animals or find it a home, he decided to just dump it in the parking lot where my daughter works. She wasn't about to watch it get killed...she works on a very busy street! I've had "Bobbie" for about a month now and she is doing great! The poor thing was so skinny and so dehydrated...she was all eyes and fuzz. My daughter plans to take her to her new apartment when the kitty is a little older...until then, I get to play mommy cat.
Tiger Lily playing with Candi.
Back in June, I was on my way back from San Antonio late at night. I hit a deer about 7 miles out of Brady. I hadn't planned on stopping at the McDonalds but since I hit the deer, I thought I had better check the damage on the car. While there, I kept hearing a kitty meowing and meowing. The damage from the deer wasn't too bad so Dad gets back in the car and I turn around and spot the kitty in the bushes. She is soooooo sweet. I wasn't about to leave her there on that busy highway! I brought her home. Originally, I had planned to give her to one of my daughter's friends who wanted a cat but she will be unable to take her. I'd like to find her a good home. I started out calling her Micki (because I found her at McDonalds) but then I called her Confetti because of her unusual fur but I've settled on Tiger Lily. She is very playful and very inquisitive. We had a traumatic experience with the clothes dryer Sunday....she is OK thank goodness! I guess her age to be between 3 and 5 months. If I could just bottle her energy, I'd make a fortune.
In the meantime, until Tiger Lily finds a home I'll need to get her fixed and get her shots. I also still have the two wild kittys outside that aren't fixed. I'd like to have all three fixed but that is expensive. If anyone would like to donate to the cause, please PayPal funds to me at talk2velda@msn.com at www.PayPal.com or call 725-9854.
I gave up years ago trying to give cats to the Humane Society or Rescue the Animals because they are always FULL! I just take care of them myself until I can find homes for them. Please help if you can.

UPDATE 04/23/2005: Momma and babies found a home! I'm told that they are doing fine in their new home! Thanks Jessica!!!
HELP 04/12/2005: Someone moved away and left a pretty momma cat with 4 little kittens just a few days old! I simply can't have 8 cats !!!!! Help me find a home for momma and her babies. Momma is very gentle unless another animal comes near, then she is going to protect her babies. You should have seen what happened the other night when my Sylvester just sniffed the back of her head. He couldn't get away from her fast enough!

Gaby found a home ... with me!
|
|
OK, so helping a kitty find a home is a little more challenging than finding a home for humans!!!
This cutie was found by one of my daughter's friends in a garbage dumpster and was close to death. She is litter trained and a real sweetie. She doesn't like dogs though so I'm not sure that she would adapt to a home where there are dogs. I'm estimating that she was born this past spring. We have been calling her "Gaby" because she is very talkative. We've taken care of her for a little over a month now and she gets along fine with my two cats, Sylvester and Jack but I just can't keep three cats!!

March 2004 Gaby & Jack
UPDATE....
Well, I've discovered that she isn't just afraid of dogs but humans also. She is OK with me and my daughter but if anyone else comes near, she just freaks! I don't know what happened to her before we got her but it must have been just awful. I'm going to get her fixed after the first of the year. I'm not hopeful that I can find anyone who will take care of her like we take care of her but I won't give up hope. She really enjoyed our Christmas Tree and the presents. She tried to “help” us with opening them. Unfortunately, she didn't wait for Christmas Day!
UPDATE ON GABY ... 03-03-2004
Well, I have decided to keep her because she is so afraid of humans. I got her fixed recently and she is doing fine. Thank goodness she gets along with my other two cats!
Gaby update 04/12/2005 Gaby is still afraid of humans except me and my daughter. I don't know if she will ever not be afraid. She is so sweet. She glues herself to me when I get home in the evenings. My daughter keeps bringing home strays that no one else will take care of. We have a beautiful gray and white female cat that has been staying with us since Christmas 2004. She is very gentle and very sweet. This is the most recent pic I have of Candi, taken 08/20/2005. We have named her Candi. I know, I know, she isn't a ditzy blonde but she acts kinda blonde. I suspect that she has a vision problem.
UPDATE GABY 08/29/2005....Gaby does not like us bringing all the kitty-cats home! She is still afraid of humans but she also doesn't care for "new" cats. She is fine with Sylvester and Candi but not the new kittens. At least it isn't a constant battle. She just whacks one of the kittens if they get too close to her to let them know to leave her alone.

My Boys - Sylvester & Jack
|
|
I'm not trying to find a home for Sylvester or Jack but I had to include a picture of both my boys here. Sylvester is a biiiigggg cat...just under 20 pounds and lots of hair.
 Sylvester (left) Jack (right)
I'm sad to report the Jack passed away on December 3, 2004. He had a massive infection (origin unknown) and his kidneys failed. He was 5 years old.
Here is Data's "Ode to Spot" (Star Trek, The Next Generation)
in tribute to my friend, Jack.
"Ode to Spot" Felis catis, is your taxinomic nomenclature An endothermic quadriped, carnivorous by nature? Your visual, olfactory, and auditory senses Contribute to your hunting skills and natural defenses. I find myself intrigued by your subvocal oscillations, A singular development of cat communications That obviates your basic hedonistic predilection For a rythmic stroking of your fur, to demonstrate affection. A tail is quite essential for your acrobatic talents You would not be so agile if you lacked its counterbalance. And when not being utilized to aid in locomotion, It often serves to illustrate the state of your emotion. O Spot, the complex levels of behavior you display Connote a fairly well-developed cognitive array. And though you are not sentient, Spot, and do not comprehend, I nonetheless consider you a true and valued friend.

Ok, so you probably don't have a penguin for a pet but I thought this was cute. Someone sent this to me awhile back but I don't know where they found it.
